How to Ace that Remote interview

Many of us are not super comfortable in front of a camera so first of all we recruiters and our candidates need to help master video interviewing

A few good tips for acing that remote interview:

· Practice beforehand. This is a must

· Look the part. You need to wear the same type of outfit that you would wear to a face to face interview.
Think worst case scenario. You don’t want to have an emergency and the interviewer see you are wearing an old pair of jeans or something even worse

· Make sure you have chosen a spot with good lighting, no clutter and it is in a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted

· Do have your resume and any questions close at hand

· Make sure you have all the information you need when you receive the invitation.
Don’t leave anything to chance

· Double check everything before you start the call. Technology can fail especially now when all systems are under pressure

· Make sure that there’s a plan B, just in case the connection unexpectedly cuts.
(Mobile phone handy but make sure you turn off your notifications button)

· Don’t be late – ever!

· Ease into the interview with chit-chat

· Relax – believe in yourself and if your friendly dog, cat or child wanders into the interview carry on.
It may just show how you cope under pressure
