Every year brings new trends and challenges when recruiting and hiring. When we are hiring new staff we have a good idea what experience and skills we would like the ideal job applicant to have. But the one thing that the past should have taught us is hiring for talent is not enough. Taking a serious look at the attitude of applicants is much more important in todays workplace.
Given the choice I believe we would all rather work alongside naturally positive people. A positive attitude very often brings a collaborative spirit, an open-mindedness, a flexible approach and a pro-active attitude to responsibility and problem solving. It is also more fun working with people with a great attitude and after all we do spend more time each week with our co-workers than we do with family or friends.
